Image
“Image refers to a visual representation of someone or something in material form.” Images are used in our daily lives and function in a variety of ways: to inform, to entertain, to identify, to explain, etc. Using imagery on this website, I can enable an image to help describe and convey the ten key concepts and how they coincide all together. But as the text book says, the word “image” also refers to immaterial functions of mind and consciousness, meaning I can use imagery through pictures and arranged alphabetic text to create an image in your mind. This form of imagery can be metaphorically compared to the difference between reading a book and seeing the movie. The book allows you to create your own image of the characters, environments and events that take place throughout the plot line.
"Creating visual imagery is a state of mind. It involves the reproduction of what we see. But much more than that, it becomes an outlet to express feelings about what we experience."
-Tracy Sabin

As it is earlier stated, Imagery is not limited to a physical picture. Imagery could be seen in a visual, mental state as well as a visually appealing, physical image. There is a wide range of the term image. Images can be seen while reading a book and conceptually visualizing the book as a movie in your mind, imagining the characters, setting, location, etc. Image could also be the literal concept such as a polaroid photo you closepin and hang on your wall. Image is used in the 21st century to create specific ethos for advertisement as well as creating a strong circulation in the media/social media. Along with image comes a strong connection with field and circulation, seeing as the audience (Field) or the people interested in the movies, books, and advertisement (Imagery), create the Circulation, which in term effects the Ethos of each source. Modern day writing simply connects each of these key concepts with our use of technology and media.
